This was taken while staying at the Safelanding Resort on Nacula Island

The S.S. Maheno was grounded on Fraser Island on July 9th, 1935. It was built in Scotland in 1904 as a luxury passenger ship for trans-Tasman crossings. During World War 1 it was used as a Hospital ship. After being declared unseaworthy in 1935, it was sold to a Japanese company for scrap metal. They decided to tow the S.S. Maheno back to Japan but on the way they were caught in an unseasonal winter cyclone which snapped the tow line and the S.S. Maheno was left to drift onto Fraser Island. The Japanese left the S.S. Maheno on Fraser fIsland for 4 months before returning to retreive but due to the strong currents on the beach the ship was burried so deep that it was irretrievable. The company could do nothing but leave it there for good.
The S.S Maheno was later used by the Royal Australian Air Force as target practice in World War II. 200 bombs were dropped but only two hit (I guess they really did need the practice).

This car was just a random car I found off the road on my way through Mungo National Park in New South Wales.
